Operations Director (Maternity Cover)

​

The PCC of St George-in-the-East is seeking a Maternity Cover for the Director of Operations post, available to start in July for a period of 12 months. 

​

Hours: 2-2.5 days per week

​​​Salary£38,500 pro rata

Location: St George in the East Parish Office

​

The post will focus on three key operational areas within a broad oversight remit. 

 

Facilities management - the building and site is significant and provides for the local community beyond worship on Sundays. Midweek liturgies take place every week, the church is regularly hired for community and private activities, the crypt office hosts two charities as well as St George’s staff, the Green Gables Montessori nursery rent crypt and garden space, the church lets four flats to private tenants and the church is open to the public every day of the year.

Income generation - as part of the changing shape and use of the church and site the PCC are committed to developing a coherent long term business plan for income generation from the church’s assets. The Parish Coordinator leads on church hire and car parking revenue. The Director of Operations oversees and directs efforts to raise funds in the medium to long term with input and practical support of the PCC and Rector.

 

Strategic maintenance - the PCC is committed to developing the church building and site to ensure a missional presence here for decades to come. An expression of interest to the National Heritage Lottery Fund is being prepared for submission in April/May 2025. The PCC is working closely with the Diocese of London, NLHF, Historic England and other partners in planning the future shape and use of the church and site.
