NOON EXAMEN

Noon Examen: Welcome

Take a moment at midday to reflect with God on the day so far. Perhaps light a candle and follow the text below to pray, led by Jess Scott.

At the midpoint of the day, we pause, and ask for grace to become aware of the steady gaze of God’s love on us; the grace to see where God is with us in our lives; and the grace to know this day as the day which the Lord has made.

We hold in mind the morning now passed.

Where did we know peace? Where did we see beauty? Where we were shown kindness? Where we were surprised by joy? For these encounters we thank God.

We think of what we have done, and said, felt, and thought in the course of our day so far. We bring to mind specific moments that catch our attention now, recalling them in God’s presence.

Were they moments where we were drawn towards God, or drawn further away from God?

We note the movement of our day so far, and pray for the afternoon ahead. We pray that it might be blessed by God and directed towards God. We pray that we would receive it as a gift, open before us. We pray that we would know the preciousness of the time ahead, and how deeply God seeks to meet us in it.

Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us:

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come;

thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

the power, and the glory

for ever and ever.

Amen.
